Gail's Story

Latest paintings from Gail's portfolio.

Happy Days during the week when I go outside and myself and my chair wheels round the parks and I watch the ducks on the pond and enjoy a coffee with my PA Mandy.

I love going to Metal Art School nearby, plenty of time to paint and design.

The joy of my week is going to Peaceful Place on the mini bus. Watching the country side go by.  Green fields, small horses and time for a chatter and a joke.

Peaceful Place is a wonderful community, we have quizzes, tournaments, and breakfast coffee and tea hot chocolate and donuts.  Arts and Crafts in the Art Studio learning from one another.  Staff are great joining in and helping out.  Not 'them and us' but a safe community.

Dinner and dessert at lunch time community, cooked by anyone who wants to have a chatter while peeling potatoes or cutting veg maybe even making crumble or cakes to take home to have tea with your loved ones. Jigsaw puzzles as a couple of friends join you.  Basketball as teams, TV and music by google.

Then Covid 19 started to be on the news in China, Italy and England. A letter from the government telling me I must not go out as high risk.  I didn’t understand what this meant.  I was waiting for the Peaceful Place mini bus to come but it didn’t arrive.  On the news, people dying and being unwell.  As lock time goes by the programmes are stopping and repeats are showing, that I don’t want to watch.  I don’t remember a fresh breeze on my face or the sun in my eyes warming my back.

At times I feel trapped I want to go out I don’t remember outside.  My life is sitting in my chair.  I have a view from where I sit.  I can see a little sky and houses opposite through my window, nobody walking past because we are in Lockdown.  Colours are gone.  I can’t remember people’s faces.  In time things will be back to normal and I will see more than just my view from the window and I will be free.
