Peaceful Place Day Care, Respite,
Residential and Nursing Care Project
At Peaceful Place we are very aware that the service we currently offer only satisfies a small part of the real need. Through informal discussions with our members and family carers and with no age specific care available from the Statutory Service Providers, it is apparent that there is an urgent need for respite, residential and nursing care in Essex for people under 65 living with dementia.
And, because of the experience, skills and knowledge we have gained working with this client group over the last eleven years we know we are ideally placed to expand on our day service and meet this challenge by providing this desperately needed higher level of care.
To meet this need Peaceful Place has set a project in place to identify a suitable site in South East Essex where we will build a 20 bed single storey purpose built facility, with a brand new day centre, workshops and landscaped, therapeutic, sensory gardens.
The philosophy of our charity has always been to deliver high quality, age appropriate, individual care and we will carry on achieving this in the future by providing:
- An expansion of our current day service allowing us to offer more flexible hours of care in the evenings and at weekends.
- Planned and emergency respite care with appropriately trained staff in an environment that will promote independence and maintenance of life skills.
- Age appropriate long term residential care in a familiar, safe, comfortable and homely environment.
- Empathic nursing care provided as part of the continuous care package in a 'peaceful' hospice environment.
We know that special consideration must be given to our client group when planning their care. By providing this level of care we will be able to offer an environment where our clients can gradually become used to the different levels of care and support but in the same place and by the same people. This ensures stability and familiarity thereby reducing the anxiety and confusion of being passed from one care environment to another.
Our vision for the future of Peaceful Place was conceived in 2001 and since then we have had enormous success in winning support form charitable trusts, companies and the wider community.
We have been awarded £3 million as a grant and loan from Future Builders and Unity Bank – a remarkable achievement for such a small charity as ourselves.
Inevitably, the building costs are always rising so we still need as much help and support from as many people as we can to raise the money needed. We are determined to ensure our vision of Peaceful Place becomes a reality and helps people under 65 in South East Essex with this distressing disease.
