Tony Smith: Chairman

Tony has been employed in the financial sector for the last 30 years, originally at Lloyd's as an underwriter and underwriting member. He is currently part of the Senior Management Team at a leading insurer. For the past 25 years he has been a Committee Member of a charity assisting underprivileged children. In 1994 Tony was appointed a Magistrate and was a Member of the Magistrates Court Committee until they were replaced by the GLMCA. He is currently a Member of the Magistrates Association Council, Member of the Road Traffic Sub-Committee, Chairman of the North East London Magistrates Association Branch and Chairman of the Youth Panel.

Moira McCann

Moira is a skilled and versatile administrator and has trained in some aspects of project management, people management, communications and publication. She is currently employed within the Civil Service as a Business Support Manager. Her expertise and guidance in completing forms and funding applications has been invaluable to us in the 11 years she has been involved with The Peaceful Place.

Charles Cormack

Charles has worked for the past 15 years for the Southend Darby & Joan Organisation - a registered charity providing care for the elderly in care and sheltered accommodation. He currently chairs the South East Essex Advocacy for Older People and also SAVS and has been Chairman of the South Essex Care Association. Charles has extensive experience of managing care , and of current care standards and their implementation.

Ian McDougall

Ian McDougall is the VP & Legal Director for LexisNexis International (covering Europe, Canada, Africa, Australia and New Zealand) and is responsible for managing all of LN's legal department functions in the region. Ian Joined LexisNexis in early 2004.

Ian spent 6 months as Interim Managing Director of LexisNexis New Zealand and also has served as Acting HR Director for the LexisNexis International region.

Prior to joining LexisNexis, Ian was a main Board Director (responsible for Legal, HR and Facilities and Group Company Secretary) for one of the UK's largest telephone companies. Other highlights include a previous role as Chief European Counsel for Hughes .

Ian is a Barrister (member of the UK Bar) and, in private practice, undertook commercial litigation in the High Court in England across a wide range of legal topics.

Teresa Jago

 

Theresa has a Masters Degree in Social work, and has worked a Social Worker and Senior Practitioner with Essex County for a number of years.  In 2007 she got a job with the Alzheimer's Society and currently works at the South East Essex Advocacy for Older People.  Her particular role is to advocate for people with in the Southend, Castle Point and Rochford areas.  Teresa currently advocates for a number of people at Peaceful Place and either meets them at or in the centre to discuss any issues they may have.  The visits to Peaceful Place enable Teresa to have regular contact with those that attend the centre, whilst at the same time supporting the and helping them provide stimulating and appropriate daytime activities.
 
 

 

 

Emma Oswick

Emma is Head of Finance for Rank Interactive, the online gaming division of Rank PLC, where she is part of the senior management team and is responsible for financial management of the business.  She qualified with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1998 and has since worked in finance roles in various industries, including media and telecommunications.  Since joining as a Trustee, Emma has applied her skills to support Peaceful Place in improving their financial information, particularly in respect to the assisted living project.
