Specialist care and support for younger people with dementia and their families

Peaceful Place is a unique charity established in 1996 as a club offering specialised care and support for people under 65 living with dementia and their families in South East Essex.

Our service is available five days a week in an exclusively age appropriate environment at St. Lukes Place, Dalys Road, Rochford. We have a high ratio of staff to club members which allows us to be able to offer a good level of person centred care.

Our aim is to stimulate the mental, physical and social skills of our members. We achieve this by providing a wide range of recreational activities such as Snooker, Table Tennis, Arts and Crafts, Photography, Quizzes, Dominoes, Cookery, Music, Pottery and monthly "Theme Days".

To further encourage the social side of our club we arrange daily trips out to local restaurants for lunch and weekly trips out to local places of interest chosen by our club members.

Peaceful Place also offers valuable respite to the carers as they are confident that the person they are caring for is being looked after in a safe and happy environment thus giving them the chance to take time for themselves. We also offer practical help, support and advice to carers either in their own home or at our monthly support group, giving carers the chance to talk to someone else going through something very similar. We arrange social events throughout the year for the benefit of our members and their families. By bringing everyone together in this way, friendships and valuable support networks are established.

We work very closely with the Community Mental Health Teams and the Dementia Advocacy Service to ensure that our members receive the best care, advice and support whilst they are at Peaceful Place.

A referral from the Department of Social Care is required for the necessary funding but we will be pleased to offer help and advice on this process.
