About Us
Specialising in care and support for people living with young onset dementia

Peaceful Place was established in 1996 by members of Shoebury Baptist Church to offer specialised help and support for people in South East Essex living with young onset dementia.
Our Day Care Service operates five days a week with a high staff to member ratio. Our aim is to stimulate the mental, physical and social skills of our members in an appropriate environment. We achieve this by providing a wide range of recreational activities such as regular day trips , Tai Chi, snooker, table tennis, arts and crafts including pottery, games and quizzes, keep fit, dancing ,drum therapy, pet therapy, live entertainment, cookery and gardening.
Carers also benefit from our work and can have time for themselves knowing that the person they care for is being looked after in a safe, caring and happy environment. Working with the Community Mental Health Teams, Social services,Memory Clinic , Alzheimer's Society and the Dementia Advocacy Service you can be sure our members receive the best care, advice and support whilst they are at Peaceful Place.
We are aware, however, that our existing service satisfies only part of the need. In particular, there is little accommodation in the region that is specifically designed for adults with young onset dementia. As a result they are sometimes placed in facilities more suited to older people.
Our Supported Living Service is being designed to address this need and will provide accommodation for up to 10 adults living with young onset dementia in a safe and homely environment within their local community.
